SOUTK in London

Artist and curator Joy Stacey has reached me through email two years ago. she showed her interest in Soutk and she wanted to include it in a group exhibition under the name of Autonomy of Self in which she curates. The exhibition was set to be in September 2015 followed by a symposium in October in London.

Autonomy of Self is a group exhibition bringing together moving image and photography from across the former Ottoman territories to explore how individuals are using the human image to refuse violence and conflict.
The exhibition includes the work of
Moufida Fedhila, Joana Hadjithomas & Khalil Joreige, Sejla Kameric, Armenoui Kasparian Saraidari, Sadik Kwaish Alfraji, Joy Stacey and me.

my warm thanks to Joy Stacey for working hard throughout the last 2 years to shape this well formed exhibition followed by a full program of events and screenings and a symposium with the exhibiting artists. It has been great pleasure to meet her and get to know all the other artists.

Soutk in Mediterranea 16 Young Artists Biennial - Ancona

Soutk was featured in Mediterranea 16 Young Artists Biennial in Ancona, Italy.
The Biennial was focusing on regimes of knowledge and mechanism of formation in the field of art, but also reflecting upon these processes in the wider society.
The title of Mediterranea 16 was Errors Allowed, as a reference to a different regard given to the position that “mistakes” have in the processes of education. Besides, this concept becomes stronger if related with the enquiry on “young” artists that the Biennial asks.
The project was part of  " The crisis of representation " curated by artist Charlotte Bank.
Mediterranea 16 was held in Ancona, from June 6th to July 7th 2013.
